The “Chevron Enjoy Science” project is a collaborative initiative between the public and private sectors aimed at enhancing competitiveness and innovation in Thailand through the development of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics or STEM education. The project has a duration of 8 years and a budget of over 1,160 million Thai Baht.
The project is divided into two phases: Phase 1 from April 2015 to March 2020, and Phase 2 from April 2020 to March 2022. In Phase 2, the project is managed by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM-ED), a regional intergovernmental organization approved by the Thai Ministry of Education. It receives funding support from Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Limited.
STEM education for sustainable development is the focal point of the project’s objectives. Aligned with government policies, it aims to expand the scope of STEM activities and enhance their management within the formal education system, addressing the specific needs of Thailand. Collaboration with public and private sector entities is emphasized to amplify the education system’s capacity. Meanwhile, the project endeavors to nurture a culture of continuous improvement within educational institutions, fostering a network for quality enhancement. To further propel STEM advancement, the project focuses on establishing STEM Career Academies, guiding individuals in their pursuit of higher education and career readiness, while equipping them with vital skills for the dynamic STEM industries. With a strong emphasis on research-based policies and practices, the project strives to have a profound impact on high-level learners, empower educational leaders, and diligently measure learner outcomes.
The “Chevron Enjoy Science” project seeks to enhance STEM education in Thailand through a comprehensive set of activities. Secondly, it emphasizes the expansion of high-quality STEM learning resources, specifically designed to enhance analytical, problem-solving, and integrative skills, which are easily accessible through online platforms. The project also aims to strengthen Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and elevate the overall quality of schools by collaborating closely with the Teachers’ Council of Thailand (TCT) to expand the PLC network and cultivate educational leadership. Additionally, the initiative involves the establishment of STEM Career Academies in collaboration with the public and private sectors, serving as a pilot program to prepare youth for future STEM careers and higher education. It also emphasizes raising awareness of STEM and enhancing the capacity of organizations to promote STEM learning through collaboration with relevant agencies and international experts. Finally, the project aims to promote research and policies that support educational reform, focusing on building the research capabilities of Thai researchers and studying the continuous impact of the project, with research findings that are presented at national and regional conferences.
The 6 Scopes of the “Chevron Enjoy Science” Project
- Develop academic leaders and mentors to provide teaching guidance for STEM learning, within and outside the classroom.

- Strengthen Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and improve school quality through collaboration with the Teachers’ Council of Thailand (TCT).

The “Chevron Enjoy Science” project involves key stakeholders, including policy-making authorities, such as Parliament, the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), the Office of the Civil Service and Education Personnel Commission (OTEPC), and the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC). It also engages regional-level agencies, educational institutions like the National Institute for Development of Teachers, Faculty Staff, and Educational Personnel (NIDTEP), Mahidol University, and the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), as well as experts in STEM education and knowledge creation agencies like National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), National Science Museum (NSM), and Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education (ONIE). The beneficiaries of the project encompass students, education personnel, policy-makers, and educational researchers. To ensure long-term sustainability, the project establishes a robust network for continuous educational development and fosters coordination among regional-level government agencies. Additionally, research conducted by the SEAMEO STEM-ED provides valuable insights, with the findings being presented to policy-making authorities to drive lasting impact.
