‘Build skilled workforce, Create Opportunities and Employment through TVET’

Purpose and Background

Everyone has the right to learn. Quality education requires an inclusive and equitable environment, collaborative leadership, and well-trained, motivated teachers and teaching facilitators. Additionally, results must be checked, and appropriate changes should be incorporated into teaching and the curriculum. The Equitable Education Fund (EEF), Thailand was established under the Equitable Education Act 2018. The objective of the Act is to provide financial support for children and youth who are in greatest need, reduce educational inequality by forming a partnership with different groups, and conduct systematic research to support and develop teachers’ effectiveness. In order to promote equality in education. EEF, the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, the Ministry of Education, and partners in Thailand, have been joining forces to reduce educational inequality and meet the needs of vocational manpower. EEF provides aid to students who lack funding or underprivileged students so that students can access quality education and problems relating to inequality in education can be fixed alongside the development of the country’s economy. Its work also focuses on strengthening vocational educational institutions to improve teaching quality and management in order to become vocational educational institutions that improve skills and quality of life for youth and support the improvement and quality of cultivating and developing professional talent to align with Thailand’s 4.0 Policy.

The EEF, with support of the Office of the Vocational Education Commission; Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation; Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University; Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi; King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang; King Mongkut’s University of Technology North have has proposed a Conference on TVET ‘Build skilled workforce, Create Opportunities and Employment through TVET” where participants – colleges directors, teachers, technical experts, practitioners, policy-level decision makers and key development organizations – can more fully explore key educational issues related to disadvantaged youth, vocational education and discuss existing and potential solutions The conference will also introduce EEF developments and its area-focused strategy, explore how innovation, including technology, can spearhead change, and seek partnerships to promote the ‘no one left behind” agenda.

The Goal of the Conference

To promote equity-based vocational education for educationally underserved youth

Expected Outcomes

This TVET Conference 2022: ‘Build skilled workforce, Create Opportunities and Employment through TVET will be a platform for knowledge sharing on equity-based vocational, enhancing understanding of equity-based vocational education, barriers, challenges, and opportunities among government officials, teachers, and various development partners and improving relevant knowledge and expertise in Thailand. This conference will also offer policymakers, educational leaders, and educators an opportunity to strengthen partnerships to promote equity in vocational education among governments, international agencies, and the private sector.

Organization of Sessions

The conference is divided into 2 parts:

Part 1: There are five-panel discussions and five breakout rooms within the meeting room. Topics include;

  • Private Sector Cooperation for the Development of Innovative Educational Institution Prototype
  • Youth Talk: Life and Dreams
  • Sustainable Vocational Education Development Through Cooperation from All Sectors of Society
  • Elevating the Quality System of Vocational Education: A New Era
  • Vocational education and training (VET) students’ mental health and support: experiences from Australia and Thailand

Part 2: Outside the meeting room is an exhibition of students’ work from about 10 educational institutions and the exhibition of innovations of about 5 private organizations.
